Message from Andreas von Stechow
Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany
The German Technology Symposium will be held for the seventh time in November 2002. Since the last GTS event in 1999, the Thai economy has made good progress in restructuring and modernization, and the outlook for the future is good. Despite the difficult global economic environment of last year, the commerce between our countries rose to record levels, and investment from Germany is rising once again. This reflects the confidence of German companies, equipped with a wide range of modern technology and know how, .in the further development of the Thai economy. The Thai-German Joint Economic Committee
we agreed to constitute will give us a further tool to developing the economic cooperation between our countries.
The GTS02 offers excellent opportunities for the Thai business community and the public at large to get acquainted with modern technology made in Germany. German companies and institutions will be represented in various sectors such as machinery and plant, electrical and electronics, power engineering, information and communication, packaging and environmental technology. Special focus will be laying on education and training in Germany, and numerous German universities and institutions will present themselves.
I wish GTSo2 every success and I am looking forward to welcoming our Thai partners there.
